Re: a truly amazing family practice physicianFrom: D. Ashley Hill (dahmd@cfl.rr.com)Tue May 25 16:07:36 2004
As the director of the ob/gyn department for a family medicine residency program, I assure everyone we do NOT advocate "diagnosis" of STI's based on patient complaints! If that were the case, why bother screening for HIV; just wait for Kaposi's sarcoma or pneumonia and diagnose it then. Don't check for asymptomatic bacteriuria, instead wait for pyelonephritis. One of the most important roles of physicians is to educate both patients and each other. I always appreciate an informative letter or note from another physician informingg me about the patient's non-gyn conditions. It's a shame that the other physician does not value Richard's attempt to educate him. Ashley

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
