A new twist

Got a message from one of our local OBs today, that his carrier has excluded the performance of VBAC from his coverage. If he does them, it is at his own personal peril.

Saw an article the other day, that some hospitals are making it hospital policy that VBAC will not be allowed in their facilities, not because of ability or staffing, but because of liability risk.

Physicians in the St. Louis area are beginning to refuse to see patients from Illinois, for fear of venue considerations. Apparently this is true all up and down the border, not just in St. Louis. I would not be surprised to see that same philosophy at the western border of Missouri, with Kansas refusing to see Missouri patients. Many of the KC physicians have already moved their offices to Kansas for lowered professional liability rates there.

Where in the world will it all stop?? Or, will it ever stop??

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
