Re: OB: AFP/multiple marker datingFrom: art fougner, md (evsono@pipeline.com)Wed May 5 11:46:35 2004
Garry the sonar confirms the menstrual dates, therefore this patient's risk is 1/230 or slightly higher than the threshold of a 35 yr old. the only reason to have an MFM evaluate her would be if she would be interested in a so-called "genetic sonogram" to refine further her risks. after that, the choice to amnio or not to amnio, is up to her. which outcome would be more onerous to her, the miscarriage of a wanted pregnancy or a lifetime of caring for an affected child? good luck! art

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
