Did any of you folks see the FOX NEWS special Sunday evening on the malpractice crisis? I personally thought it was extremely well presented. The interviews with two of the jurists, and the size of the "award" (like in lottery, 113 million dollars) is enough to drive any Ob in New York out of practice or out of the state. With the jury mentality in so many locales being similar to those on the program, the liability crisis is nationwide as insurance for most physicians is unaffordable. Without dramatic changes in the current tort system, medical practice faces an ominous future. The suggestion that all "experts" be identified is worthy of strong consideration/implementation.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
