Studies clearly show that is the place for an oral SOLUTION of an anacid. Alka seltzer Gold or bicitra both fall into those categories. The seminal work on this was done by Charles P. Gibbs when he was in Florida in the 70's and 80's. He found that suspensions like Maalox actually were causative of aspiration pneumonitis where solutions were preventative.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
