Re: Tort reform for obstetricians fails in the SenateFrom: Richard Chudacoff, MD (rchudacoff@mylinuxisp.com)Wed Mar 3 08:04:09 2004
Ill agree to that, however, if the lawmakers cared, they would at least hear arguments. This was just a motion to hear the arguments. I think patients had it ingrained in their minds that we, the physicians, are the enemy, and therefore any type of legislation that would relieve us from the burden of litigation would be facilitating the enemy. The fact that pharmaceutical companies are able to get legislation passed proactively and reactively preventing litigation for vaccines, chemotherapeutic agents, and especially gun manufacturers from any liability for improper use of their equipment, suggests that the population at a whole would require a huge paradigm shift before any meaningful relieve would be presented to the medical community.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
