Send her back to the Gyn onc, should be right up her/his alley. I have removed cervical stumps some long some short, some have been bloody messses which alo required repair of cystomies, some have been easy as cake. They seem to be easier if you can wait 1-2 years especially if there was endometriosis and /or PID. Though cervical cancer of the stump is rare I have seen a half dozen cases, its amazing how the message of continued PAP smears does not get through.

For this patient you should be able to do a gentle curretage of whats left of the cervix, if there is abnornal tissue you should pick it up in the endometrial / endocervical currettings highly unlikely in a 39 y.o. but you got to do it. Don't be concerned about perforating into abdomen its not a big deal basically similar to uterine perforation I usually just admit and observe for 24 hrs .

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
