Our practice uses an outside sonography service to perform our Ob ultrasounds, and we review them, sign the reports, etc. The service is contemplating buying a new machine with 4D capability. One involved party has interest in offering 4D scans and saving them on a disc/VCR/whatever for the patient as a service, a la "fetal foto" type places that apparently are out there. This would be at a charge to the patient directly, separate from the billing for the indicated/routine scan. Any thoughts? Please email privately. Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
