Re: Methadone in pregnancyFrom: Robert J. Carpenter, Jr. MD (zygote@icsi.net)Thu Oct 30 16:19:54 2003
Having practiced 25 years ago and being at a hospital with methadone dependent patients. Methadone was frequently decreased to 20MG dosage and some women with appropriate supervision were able to get off meds. That latter event requires great dedication and support. The state is being abitrary and caprious in its stand and appropriate medical intervention is required and actually demanded. You will need an activist MD (MFM or not) to plead your case! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
