Re: Methadone in pregnancy

I agree that these clinics seem to be without any guidelines--especially for pregnant patients.

We also have had several patients on methadone. Some (most) were former cocoaine users and some former prescription drug users. We've also had at least two patients who continued to "use" while on the program. One was picked up at the hospital when she came in for preterm contractions--urine was positive for cocaine and pot. When I called the methadone clinic, they responded--"She told me she didn't use drugs anymore." Give me a break.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
