I agree with you. Often I have fathers (who are also not credentialed OB providers) who want to deliver their babies. Unless there is a medical reason I do have them participate. The actually do less than they later think. I deliver the head, let them assist with the shoulders, and then have them complete the delivery.

As long as the credentialed CNM provider was there while the (CNM) mother delivered her daughter's baby, the CNM provider assumes the responsibility for the delivery and there is no problem.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
