Re: Decisions on Medical SchoolFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Thu Oct 2 21:27:01 2003
Jamie, As others have said - follow your heart. When I was in med school and thought it was an insane thing to be doing - I was NEVER encouraging to anyone considering it - but - one "the bug has bitten" - I never persuaded anyone away from Med School. So - if you have "always wanted" to be an ObGyn - go for it. Yes - there are lots of things about getting there - school - residency - having a life - malpracitce - changes in how medicine will be practiced by the time you get there - and more. BUT - if it is your dream and you feel the pull - get the grades and go for it. I "wandered" into ObGyn - then after working in it for over 10 years - I did career counselling - and realized it really was (and is) a "calling" for me. That it was the right thing to do - even though I can still see the craziness of working in this job in this environment.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
