Jamie,

Go after your heart-I always wanted to be an OB/GYN but felt that high school wasn't important, so I didn't get the grades to go to a college. I entered nursing school-a hospital diploma program- in 1971 and graduated 2 yrs 9 months later. Went straight into OB, mostly L&D and postpartum, and now 30 years later, at age 50, I still regret every day not going to medical school. I have been accepted to a women's healthcare nurse practitioner program but it won't be the same. If you can get into college and do well enough grade wise to get into medical school, DO IT! Follow your dreams, as you can't undo your choices much later on. Although it is difficult with problems MDs are having with medical malpractice insurance issues, there are ways around this also, like working for Kaiser or another physician group.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
