Re: Was RML--Hand positions when crowningFrom: Braun, R. Daniel (rbraun@iupui.edu)Fri Sep 5 06:40:09 2003
While delivering, I frequently hav emy hands on the babyy's head, But NEVER on the clitoris. I can think of no need to do that, ever. I would only have my hands on the head or perineum if it seemed the woman could not control her pushing, or if she was in stirrups, premature baby, or sometime with epidural. Otherwise I can either not see her perinuem (eg on the floor, under water)or I talk her through gently crowning and pushing out the head. I can not think of a time when my hands/ fingers have been anywhere near her clitoris. Jane

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
