Re: Mediolateral episiotomyFrom: Charlie Chambers (cchamber@gorge.net)Thu Sep 4 16:57:20 2003
Jane, you made have some valid points. I do believe the "American way" has strayed away from stirrups deliveries though some exceptions still exist. Certainly, studies have shown the increased risk of 3rd and 4th degree lacs with stirrups, forceps, and episiotomies of all kinds. The generalization of who cuts more episiotomies may be a little presumptuous. I've seen both midwives, and M.D. cut many or none. On Thursday, September 4, 2003, at 01:20 PM, Jane wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
