The HPCSA (Medical Registration Authority) have no list of recognised specialist qualifications, they look at the time spent by the individual in training - how long and at what type of institution - and compare it with the training for specialty here, then decide if it is acceptable or whether the applicant has to do some more time. Most ACOGs would require a further year in an approved institution and maybe even have to sit the local "Part Two" in order to be registered as a specialist. But they decide on an individual basis.

The legal system is always described as "Roman/Dutch". Exactly what that means I can't say, but there are no jury trials, which is the major obvious difference. Steve

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
