Re: Delivery with obstructing fibroidFrom: Len2976@aol.comSat Jul 26 18:46:02 2003
A few years ago at my old practice we had a patient with two large fibroids. One was in the lower segment and about the same size as the one you described. She had to be admitted twice during the pregnancy for pain due to degenerating fibroids (WBC--30,000+). The perinatologist the obstetrician I worked with at the time was sure she would either abort or have to be delivered very early. I was sure she was a definate C/S. After counseling her regarding her options, her labor was managed by the obstetrician who used the "wait and see" approach. She surprised us by having a NSVD. She had an 8 lb+ baby. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
