CNM scope of care

Where do any of you draw the line with what midwives can and can not see for prenatal care? I have had two midwives for the last two years that would see any antenatal patient put in front of them...as long as they knew the doc was around for a consult.

I now have an experienced midwife that doesn't want to see diabetics, hypertensives even diet controlled or not on meds respectively. I also have a brand new midwife that likely won't see them either. Is there a guideline somewhere or do most midwives just do what is comfortable to them?

Thanks,

Glen

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
