Before I even read this, if you have no idea what you are talking about, you should keep your mouth shut.

And it is obvoius that you have no idea of the local conditions and what is causing ruterine ruptures here.

It is a barbaric procedure, which should only be performed by a very experienced Obstetrician as last resort. And I haven't had really a situation where I felt compelled to do it.

You might want to read what prompted the letter, Ireland inquires into what is described as "barbaric practices" but was done 50 YEARS ago:

All this "simple" crap, "can be done by a midwife" rubbish, to me it's plain racism. They would NEVER EVER do it on a white patient, or a private patient or their wife.

None of you (or me) would accept the conditions prevailing in Africa for your own family.

> It sure is more interesting than freaking malpractice!

It sure is.

By the way, Robert, why are you not doing symphysiotomies instead of sections?

Rethoric question of course, because on the first you would be kicked out of your fancy hospital before the baby had been toweled dry.

And then you would be sued for several millions, plus the Porsche and the Country Club membership.

And you would loose, of course.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
