Re: SUIFrom: Jeffrey W. Clemens (jwclemens@indy.rr.com)Tue Jul 8 08:18:49 2003
Dan, Myer is right. I should have included more of what I already knew when I went to pick your collective brains It's a dual reuptake inhibitor (both serotonin and norepinephrine) that will first be rolled out by our hometown pharma Uncle Eli later this year as Cymbalta. You will probably hear a lot about it in the not too distant future. Anybody else hear the Lilly presentation that Richard C. mentioned? Convinced? Intrigued? Skeptical? The SUI product (same molecule) is in trials now but there's a AJObGyn article (July?) and some press from the Chicago Society Urodynamics/female urology meeting. I have seen Roberta's Ob-gyn.net interviews with Steve Fleischmann, discussing various SUI alternatives. Patient embarrassment and health care provider's limited non-surgical treatment options (diapers, biofeedback, and pelvic floor muscle strengthening) seem to keep this a common and commonly unaddressed issue for many women. on 7/8/03 7:49 AM, Myer Bornstein at mborn@massmed.org wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
