Re: Interfacility Transport / Active or Preterm LaborFrom: Myer Bornstein (mborn@massmed.org)Sat Jul 5 08:00:41 2003
I think the chief of both departments need to get together ands talk on what is appropriate. We have a perinatal committed at our hospital where the Chief of the NICU and the Obstetrician in chief comes to discuss transfers and any other problems, so that they may be resolved amicably on both sides. According to EMTELA the sending facility is the one at risk, they have to decide if the patient is stable enough to be transferred. If we need to section a patient under 32 weeks we always call for the transport team prior to delivery, since it takes up to an hour for them to arrive. Myer

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
