Re: cerclage patientFrom: Lynn D. Montgomery, M.D. (apgar10@montanadsl.net)Wed Jul 2 14:44:28 2003
Gary, First, there is a provision for doing a tubal on a patient when delivery occurs prior to the EDC - under emergency circumstances. Second, but most importantly, you have been placed in a "no win" situation by the referral doc. To repeatedly attempt a vaginal cerclage in a patient who has failed before is very poor judgment on his/her part. This is a case of "if we don't police ourselves, then how can we complain when others do" (lawyers for instance). That said, I would be very tempted to enlighten this patient about her care prior to transfer of care... Lynn

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
