Reading the interesting post of Dr.Dan I was obliged to be sure to understand what He was speaking about, searching under http://www.obgyn.net/ news /acronym expander and reading that gdm means gestational diabetes mellitus. I have no problems with Internet having a ADSL modem connection but I think that because obgyn.net is a worldwide forum and some collegues in some countries have probably problems of communication with Internet ,it is a form of respect towards them to use words that can be easily urderstood everywhere avoiding acronyms or slang words if possible or explaining them. Yours faithfully Emilio Porro Ob&Gyn Medical Doctor Como-ITALY http://www.sanbonaventura.com

slang:very informal words and expressions often used only by a particular social group

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
