Re: Newly pregnant existing patientsFrom: Garry E. Siegel, M.D. (garrys@mindspring.com)Tue Feb 25 19:30:21 2003
Here's what Deborah Wage sent me via email, as she is coming back on, but had computer/internet problems. I especially like her comment regarding relationship based care. Garry Pasted below: “I understand what you are saying......same perspective. Solo practive for 5 years (you end up knowing what kind of toilet tissue your pts use) to 6 CNM academic practice (you don’t even know if they use toilet tissue). Are you saying you would like to know sooner than the day before? Are you lamenting that your staff no longer knows pts well enough to know or care whether you saw them for a previous pregnancy? I have access to my schedule via computer (we are completely on line) and I routinely peruse it for my upcoming appointments. I look 3-4 weeks in advance. I like to know who is coming in. But the staff doesn’t know my population well enough yet to know who is ‘well known’ and who is not. They do know this history for those pts that belonged to the core CNMs in my practice. Relationship based care...........the ultimate risk reduction strategy. Deborah Wage, MSN,FNP,CNM

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
