OB: Newly pregnant existing patientsFrom: Garry E. Siegel, M.D. (garrys@mindspring.com)Tue Feb 25 16:45:35 2003
Here's one for the group, probably best aimed at the US private docs. Do you routinely hear from your staff when an exisiting gyn patient is pregnant? In other words, if an existing patient calls for a new pregancy appointment, or for vitamins, she generally is--duh--pregnant. In my older days, when I was a solo, I generally heard it, because the receptionist/schedule/front desk person (all in one!) generally knew who the patients were, and told me or my nurse. Nowadays, in a 3 doc, 2 midwife, 2 location office, it is not that simple. Why am I asking? Well, on the day before someone comes in, that is when I generally see the schedule and say, "Oh, so and so is pregnant again." Sometimes, it would be nice to know just because. Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
