My wife (and partner) and I are starting such a service as of 3/1/03. The up front price tag is substantial, and it requires a very different way of looking at your business, but the potential is also substantial, and I will only need 2 employees, a receptionist/cashier and a tech. No billing, no insurance, no third party payers, no spending $10 to collect a $10 co-pay, no denials, no hassle (hopefully). If you want my time and expertise, then you can pay for it, in cash and in advance. It may tank, but just the thought of doing something that I don't have to answer to anyone for other than the patient is like a breath of fresh air. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
