While this is pretty much true (adoption stuff) ... the question remains whether it is at all reasonable for the woman posted in this scenario - bilateral renal transplants etc - should even consider a pregnancy.

While we (themedical professions) have helped many people live reasonably normal lives who would not have never reached reproductive age in the past - it seems to me that they now see friends having babies and they want to be "normal" and have a baby too.

Are there women who are putting themselves at significant risk by pursuing this myth - that everyone should have a pregnancy and birth ... regardless?

Joanne-

You enter the domain of superior assessment of values.

In our land, that power rests with those who are on the ice, yet expect to be on next years team after a loosing record.

There does remain the issue of who is going to pay for bad decisions, which are only defined on Monday mornings.

You pays your money and you makes your choice.

My job is to educate and give informed recommendation. Ball goes to patient.

Even in Michigan there is acknowledement of: de gustibus non est disputandum (there is no disputing about tastes).

As an aside, I love your style, I respect you deeply, and I care about you.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
