Re: Labia Minora FusionFrom: Steve & Eryl Raymond (eryl@intekom.co.za)Fri Oct 25 22:30:40 2002
This is a common misdiagnosis of "absent vagina". The labia become fused lightly after birth anything up to the age of two years, due to local inflammation coupled with a bit of atrophy. The treatment is very simple - oestrogen cream applied daily by smearing on a small amount, which the mother can do. Within a week or ten days the labia separate again and all is back to normal. This doesn't need a referral to a specialist, unless of course, you didn't know about the condition and therefore didn't know what the treatment is either. stray Fatih Demirtola wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
