Richard, I don't have access to the current articles at the moment, but they show that patients need far less extra steroids than we used to think. On the other hand, the old regime of hydrocortisone 100 mg before, during and after surgery, then q8 hours for 24 hours, then 50 mg q8 hours for 24 hours, then 25 mg q8hours for 24 days followed by her usual dose is okay too.

I hope the Crohn's disease isn't stuck to her uterus. My recollection is that chronic steroids aren't helpful in Crohn's. Gail Waldby, MD Huron Clinic SD
