If I don't see an area that bleeds with light touch, then I ask them to call when the spotting / bleeding is present - and I will make every effort to see them while it is happening. I write it in the chart and tell the woman to tell the receptionist that I told her I'd try to squeeze her idn , that we are following this particular problem.

Usually I can eventually find the site of the bleeding. I have used AgNO3, cryo, triple sulfa (gee bet the young folks haven't used that!) estradiol, it all depends on what I see. If I cryo for a friable cervix (used to get called cervical erosion) I make sure there is a new pap - with good endocervical specimen before doing the cryo. But that usually works. I have had one woman turn out to have endometriosis of the cervix and that is whay it bled. Also always had endometrial cells on the Pap. That one eventually identified by LEEP.

Usually it is from the transformation zone (in my experience...)
