Joanne and Garry-

As you suggest, I evaluate for cervicitis, atrophy, foreign objects (fortunately uncommon, although the piece of glass from a coke bottle was a first for me) and cervical polyps. However, in contrast to Joanne, I have found a high percentage of these patients (I'll guess 60%) have endometrial or high endocervical polyps diagnosed by sonohysterography. I would have assumed that most patients would have cervicitis, but in my practice, at least, that's not the case.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
