Re: CytotecFrom: Garry E. Siegel, M.D. (garrys@mindspring.com)Thu Jun 20 18:47:54 2002
I like cytotec, too, but also have a bit of a logistic problem. For those of you using it, might you have any helpful thoughts? My issue is the 41 week multip, 1.5/25%/-3, who needs ripening (as opposed to come in at 6 AM for pitocin), and, honestly, you want to deliver her during reasonable hours since it is a scheduled induction. With cervidil, then come in and get at at 5 to 6 PM, and in the AM, you AROM and/or Pit, and have a baby during the day. With cytotec 25 mcg. at, say, 5 PM, you might have a baby at 3 AM, and in a group, you generally induce on your day (say Tuesday), but ripen on Monday. Thus, you kind of "dump" on your partner if you place cytotec at 5 PM and she delivers at 3 AM, I suppose. Garry

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
