Re: Parental-Notice Law Ruled UnconstitutionalFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Sun Apr 28 23:08:20 2002
There's no regulation - it is our CULTURE - my experience of 20 years in medical practice - is that most Americans are not very willing to face their sexuality - and thus - we have the highest unintended pregnancy rate of the European - North American countries. This is true across ALL decades - not just the teenagers. There is this cultural thing here that sexuality is not talked about "it just happens". The end result is unintended pregnancies - which either end up with abortions or children that are (most often) loved but which have single moms or marriages that were entered quickly - and STD's - and all the fall out affecting all of us as a result. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
