Parental-Notice Law Ruled Unconstitutional

The National Law Journal

A Colorado law requiring minors to notify a parent before getting an abortion is unconstitutional, the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has held, because the law doesn't have an exception allowing doctors to perform abortions necessary to protect a pregnant teen-ager's health. The state's Parental Notification Act is the result of a 1998 ballot initiative approved by 55 percent of Colorado voters.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
