I think on some of those you do have a point. I do think there is quite a bit of time spent during office hours. But to my way of thinking, that's the least of the loss. It's how it affects your life, your practice, your attitude to other patients, our atmosphere of defensive medicine that is quite immeasurable but certainly more injurious in the long run than any economic loss. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
