Come to Orlando.......I have free tickets to Disney available ! Let me explain, please. I failed to reply to the post from the MW, I believe that had had some bad experiemces with doulas. There are doulas out there that are somewhat militant and forget what their primary duty is.........that to be of comfort and support to the woman. Anything ouside that parameter should be looked at as interference. You, as the "care giver" have the power to have us forcefully ejected. And there are some that should be shown the door, as chaos like that is detrimental to what the doula's true function is. Having said that, there have been occasions in my 20+ years that I have wanted to help a vulnerable woman when faced with what I deemed to be overly interventive care, bordering on lies and intimidation. I have reminded the mom of what the birth plan was, but ultimately the decisions in birth rest solely with the mom and dad, with input from the care giver. I find that many doulas are aspiring MW's and their level of education might just surprize you ! I thank you for allowing me to respond to your questions........

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
