Well, I was trained with this, actually the curve should have a different angle for primi and multiparous. The 12 hours is not exactly 12 hours, but gives you guidelines about the development of the labour. As far as I can remember it was develop by and English doctor in Africa (here we go, use the 3rd world country for experiments...)

Fine by me, still use as routine
