Per my discussions with the CDC on this issue, and also per Tekoa King (a member of the CDC's interdisciplinary panel on GBS), antibiotics are not indicated if the 35-37 week GBS culture is negative and the membranes have been ruptured for more than 18 hours unless there is fever or other signs of infection. I've twice heard Tekoa discuss the new guidelines (due to be out any day now) and they specifically address this issue.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
