i have - one case - not my patient - presenting complaint was elevated ca125 done at patient's insistence. only finding on ultrasound was increased amount of pelvic fluid and no masses. exploration revealed the presence of dissminated intraperitoneal serous papillary carcinoma histologically indistinguishable from ovarian tumor. patient is being managed by gyn oncologist as stage 3 ovarian, since no other primary source was found.
