Our Level 3 was about 1 1/4 hours away - and we did work hard to have these discussions - but as both you and Kevin say - it is tough to get them to listen.

Then with the "must ask about Advanced Directives" on admission stuff - I recall having this discussiion with a family - and the Pedi and I were supoorting them in their decision to not resuscitate - when the admissions clerk walks in and says you have to tell me if you have the advanced directives etc. There we were in the process of deciding on the "advanced directives" of the unborn but the hospital had to be more worried about the mother's ...

Afterwards we were able to chuckle that asking that question when someone is in an advanced stage of labor is likely to get a response of "yes - I even believe in euthanasia - anything to make this end"!

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
