Re: Leaving ovaries behind during hyst for endometriosis? From: Braun, R. Daniel (rbraun@iupui.edu)Sun Mar 31 18:13:35 2002
There was an interesting paper several years ago from the University of Pittsburgh where they took out the uteri of 300 women with endometriosis. They did not remove the ovaries. Most of these women did very well and required no further therapy. Most of them also had no additional pain. Dan -----Original Message----- From: Kevin D. Leave them behind if they look normal, ignoring the possibility of microscopic disease? Remove them and take the chance of playing "find the right hrt regimen?" If you remove the ovaries do you: a) wait "a while" before instituting ert? b) immediately institute ERT only? c) immediately institute combined continuous hrt?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
