I knew a perinatologist who felt the same way...felt that the "full court press" was inappropriate prior to 28 weeks. It seems that when people don't want to hear what you are saying, they aren't going to listen no matter what. Despite very frank discussions with neonatology, I continue to see patients and their families actually <happy>when their 25 weeker is born, talking about how they will be a great basketball player, football player, you-fill-in-the blank. Then truly shocked when the kid is still ventilated with a grade 3 bleed....you just do your best I guess.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
