teratogenesisFrom: Yiannis Nickolidakis (nickolidakis@geneticsunit.gr)Thu Mar 28 12:51:11 2002
Recently, I accepted a couple asking information about teratogenesis or any other effects to fetus. The husband - 40 years old- suffers rheumatoid arthritis. He takes methotrexate, D-penicillamin and cyclosporin (Neoral). A physician has advised him to not try for pregnancy until he stop these medicines for a half of year. This period he is not in a good health and he needs medicines. I don’t know whether fertile spermatozoa ‘carry’ any medicine , so I advised him to try. Is my opinion correct? I ask for any data about the above case.

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
