Re: Malaria Prophylaxis during pregnancyFrom: Steve & Eryl Raymond (eryl@intekom.co.za)Fri Mar 22 14:25:55 2002
Riaan is right, el. Mefloquine is for prophylaxis. But on the rest I agree. Unless it is unavoidable, don't go to a malarial area when pregnant. Otherwise, Chloroquine, Mefloquine, or Lariam for prophylaxis. The new artemether is contraindicated in pregnancy. Other measures such as bed nets, mosquito-repellants, and covering wrists and ankles should not be forgotten as being as important as chemoprophylaxis. stray Dr Riaan van der Colf wrote:

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
