Re: Malaria Prophylaxis during pregnancyFrom: Eberhard Lisse (el@ac.lisse.na)Thu Mar 21 22:27:31 2002
Lynn, Malaria in Pregnancy is VERY, VERY bad news. One of the few diseaes that worry me. The best prophylaxis is not to go, when pregnant. So, talk her out of it. And, I mean that. Where does she want to "visit" anyway? And why? Chloroquine together with Paludrine is what I use myself. I also take Doxycycline but this is contraindicated here. Mefloquine is not for prophylaxis but for treatment. el -- Dr. Eberhard W. The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
