Garry, The edict from the blues is new and I haven't had a blues patient needing a pp t/l yet. You can, however, bet your sweet bippy that I will do them at another time than the calendar date of delivery until the problem is resolved. This is not much of a problem for me as I usually have to schedule them on the day after delivery or the day of discharge as I am a solo practitioner with a fairly tight office/OR schedule. I can see how it would have more impact on those practices which had one of the docs doing the "in-house" stuff only meaning that they usually would do the t/l on the day of delivery.

I am going to encourage the other docs in the department to write the insurance commissioner.

Art, the reduction in fee, as I understand it applies to c-sections as well, and I can see it as being a "second" procedure since the peritoneal cavity is already open. Thanks

Kevin

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
