My understanding of why the "second" procedure is payed at a lower rate - is because you don't have to do a separate H&P or separate F/U hospital visits or F/U office visits. All those are already paid for in conjunction with the first procedure and its "global period". Don't yell at me! I am not saying I agree with this ... Joanne

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education.
