Please correct me if I’m wrong here, but doesn’t this NCEP report Anna posted conflict with ACOG’s Opinion #246 Primary and Preventive Care, which the way I read it says: for women ages 19-39 only screen for cholesterol every five years and then only if they have risk factors? http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/guidelines/cholesterol/atp_iii.htm “p.13 In all adults aged 20 years or older, a fasting lipoprotein profile (total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, and triglyceride) should be obtained once every 5 years.” And the question is, if NIH and ACOG conflict, which guideline should we use?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
