It is unlisted. Here is Melanie's advice

Myer I know that a LUNA is an unlisted procedure, but is it 58578 or 58999??

If performed laparoscopically it is coded as 49239 (this is the ACOG recommendation), if performed via an open abdominal incision is 58999. The ACOG coding committee commented that the intent of the code 58578 is for surgeries performed on the uterus itself. The LUNA involves transecting the uterosacral ligaments that contain the uterine sensory fibers by using either electrocoagulation or laser light energy. -----Original Message----- From: ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net [mailto:ob-gyn-l@obgyn.net] On Behalf Of Marco A. Does anyone, anywhere know the correct CPT code for laparoscopic uterosacral nerve ablation?

The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
