Re: Vegas malpracticeFrom: Joanne Bulley, MD (islesannie@yahoo.com)Sat Mar 9 21:29:10 2002
A long time ago I guessed that there wouldn't be a far reaching solution to this whole tort / liability stuff - unti it reached the common person on the street - no playgrounds because the cities can't afford the liability insurance - etc. We are heading that way ... On Car Talk today - they started out with descriptions of REAL cases - they have the Stella award cases they pick out - (Stella is the MacDonald coffee lady). One of the ones today was a woman who sued a furniture store because she tripped over a toddler who was running around the store resluting in some orthopedic injury - she won $70,000 or so - and it was HER TODDLER that was running uncontrolled through the store!!! The American Medical Association is no longer designating CME hours for AMA Category II CME credit. However, physicians themselves may self designate learning activities as Category II CME credit hours if they feel it is of sufficient educational merit and meets the formal definitions of continuing medical education. OBGYN.net believes these interaction in this forum meets these criteria. For further information see the AMA web site.
